Red Ink Rising
Volume XIV No. 35: August 28, 2009

As Uncle Sam keeps churning out the cash in an attempt to bolster the economy, one eye has to be on the budgetary needle in the red zone. Earlier this week, the mid-year budget outlook came out and it wasn’t pretty. While much reporting has concentrated on the numbers – and they are staggering – there has been less about the impacts and solutions.

This year’s $1.6 trillion deficit represents a predicted 11.2 percent of Gross Domestic Product – we haven’t seen a deficit that large since World War II. But even more frightening are the long term debt projections coming as the predicted slow recovery takes its toll on revenue. Considering only what is in current law, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) now estimates we will add $7 trillion in accumulated deficits over the next ten years. Using some different assumptions, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) comes up with $9 trillion. All of this is piled on top of our existing debt of $11.7 trillion as of today.

This year has been a budgetary perfect storm with the bailout, stimulus, and continued war spending. But as the recovery takes hold, out-year deficits have to become a major priority and a consideration in every policy proposal. CBO Director Elmendorf hit the nail on the head in his blog post, “Continued large deficits and the resulting increases in federal debt would, over time, reduce economic growth. Putting the nation on a sustainable fiscal course will require some combination of lower spending and higher revenues than the amounts now projected.”

We know where this started—over indulgence in the good years. Tax cuts, war funding, big farm and transportation spending, a new prescription drug entitlement–all came online during the last eight years and none of it was paid for with spending cuts or revenue increases. And many in power clung to a convenient mantra – deficits don’t matter; that continued economic growth will take care of all the ills.

Well, unsustainable deficits and massive debt do matter. CBO estimates that with normal economic growth we are looking at a tripling of interest payments and public debt approaching 70 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2019.

This does not mean that health care reform, climate change legislation, tax simplification, or Social Security modernization should simply be cast aside. But it does mean that we have to budget and pay for these by actually prioritizing how we spend trillions of dollars every year. In fact, Medicare and Social Security traditionally make up two-thirds of the federal budget every year. It will be almost impossible to move the books into balance without tackling health care and retirement security issues.

The solution has to be statesmanship and leadership by both parties and on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue. Hard choices have to be made and the American public has to be engaged. For too long the budget has been opaque and inscrutable to the taxpayer. Gimmicks are used to hide the full cost of proposals. Budgets should come with the warning like you see in your car’s side view mirror: “numbers are larger than they appear.” Budget gamesmanship may temporarily obscure the size of the problem but it only delays the day of reckoning.

When they released the mid-year review, the President’s top budget official, OMB Director Orzag stated in his blog: “Getting the out-year deficit under control is a top priority of the Administration.” That has to be more than just rhetoric. The Administration inherited a budget in shambles, but the President knew that when he went after the job. The deficit cannot be ignored while pursuing other important priorities. It must be a priority. Now it’s time to tackle the problems, make the budget transparent and accountable to the public, and leave our fiscal house better than they found it.

Let us know what you think.

Nirvana?
Filed under: Simply the Truth — kerminator @ 9:37

A popular view today is to follow certain “Eastern” religions; which is suppose to lead to Nirvana, which is some ultimate place for the soul?

One of the central concepts in Eastern philosophy is the idea of liberating oneself in this earthly life from all desires…

This concept is based upon the principle of Nirvana which translates or means ” to extinguish or blow out” as with a candle…

So what is the reason for desire in life anyway?

Well without desire, you would be a meandering fool wondering about existing off what ever popped into your pathway of life… So in order to have a purposeful life you must have some desires… God set to principle of desire in our hearts, so we could and would seek to find meaning in life…

Now like all things there is opposition as the positive (uplifting) and the negative (dragging down) elements of life! We are free to choose which elements to use and thus meet our desires… Yes we all have natural desires!

God promises to reward “our faith according to your heart’s desire.” Therefore desire is necessary and the most important element in the advancement of our earthly life, it is not meant to be extinguished, rather it was meant to be used for edification!

Desire can be many things as we all know… There are the harming sinful desires like greed, lust, ambition, or holding a superior attitude, just to list some of the negative desires… Most of the grief in the world is or has been brought on by one or more of these!

Therefore desire is the drive of life! “The glory of God is a man fully alive!” Irenaeus

God wants you to live life using desire to mold your need to find HIM…

While the Satan is delighted for you to simply lose your drive, to lie down, and just give up to the whiles he places before you each day… Depression is one of the key elements used to defeat people and is very often Demonic in origin!

” My Granddaddy told me “It is much better to be a simple doorman, than to lay there and be a door mat!” Learn your place and purpose in life!

Most of the world today is just following some person whom, they believe will save them or solve their problems… False!

You must learn to use your God given Intelligence to seek then use the desires of your heart to develop the real purpose of your life! “ a True-ism

What are you doing with the desires of your heart, Dear Friend!

Hooking up?

Why young women should not just move in with a guy… DUH!!

So often we follow our primary senses, and do not realize the ways of the world can and do effect our relationships!!

Date:   6/22/2006 08:13:03 GMT … viewed 1296 times

Though I may make some people unhappy or down right mad, so be it…

As a truth barometer; it is my position to help people understand the truth in their life…

First as a male who has seen several winters come and go; it becomes apparent that the normal relationship for a man and woman who wish to co habituate and engage in the activity of procreation; is marriage…  This is set up so that both man / woman and any resulting children have some form of protection and stability…

Humans were not meant to upon birth; be just dropped and left to fend for themselves…   It takes up to about eighteen years to get children to a position where they can function as an adult, in most areas of life…  During this time it is really important, if at all possible, that the basic family stay in tack and function as a coherent unit…  This is the basic function of marriage…  I believe you all know this…

Young women have been short changed by almost everyone in the society into thinking that sexual intercourse is a toy or joy to be played as one desires…    Nothing could be further from the truth…    While there is pleasure in the act of sexual intercourse; if it is not connected to the long term protection of marriage, it will lead; to one or more of the following events:

poverty, disease, isolation, loneness, social discrimination, pain, suffering or depression and guilt…   This is not a game; folks…

BTW: Dear unmarried women in an affair with devoriced or separated men;  when it comes to celebrating Birthdays, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, and most of the holidays where do you think the father of the children will be…   Absolutely Right;  either with the former wife and/or children occupied with the actives there in some way…  HUH!! What do you think??  Ask around an see if I am just blowing smoke!!

The father will attend his children’s actives and many other events as possible…  So where does this leave the kept woman??    When retirement comes or property, money and other things that need to be shared guess who will get most if not all the pot??  Another quick clue is does the Girl Friend (mistress) or live in lover have their name on the title… DUH!!

This is part of life and as a male;  I see the real situation… Things change and people {mainly men} who do not have a real life stake in a relationship, will break hearts…  Esepically the women’s heart and life…   Think before you leap ladies!!  Is a hook up or roll in the hay worth the grief and future heartaches…

Read and learn the cold hard facts of life….  See Ya  Kermit

Who loses most in a breakup?

Everything looked promising for Lauren Laughead and her boyfriend when they moved from Boston to Dallas in 2002 for his job. They had been living together for nearly four years and were planning to marry. They even bought a town house in Dallas.

But the dream was derailed two years later when her boyfriend ended the relationship. “Since the property was in his name, and he was at fault for the breakup, I just moved out,” says Laughead, who handles advertising for a law firm. “I paid off my part of the credit card and left it at that. I had helped pay part of the mortgage for a year. I lost that money. He’s got equity.”

Her experience illustrates a little-noted peril of cohabitation: the potentially negative financial consequences of breaking up. When unmarried couples who have been living together part company, women are substantially worse off economically than men, according to a study in the Journal of Marriage and Family.

Men’s household income drops by 10%, while women lose 33%. The percentage of women living in poverty increases from 20% to 30%, while men’s poverty level remains relatively unchanged at about 20%.

Women lose more across the board

Even the 33% drop for women strikes some financial experts as too low. “That’s a nice statistic, but I think it’s far worse than that,” says Doris Theune, senior vice president of Bryn Mawr Trust Co. in Bryn Mawr, Pa. “I live in a very affluent area, yet I see women all the time lose out across the board. It’s the same as divorce. If women have given up a career, or if they have relocated, then they lose.”

More than 40% of American women under the age of 45 have lived unmarried with a male partner at some point, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. In 2000, 9.7 million Americans were cohabiting with an unmarried partner of the opposite sex, while 1.2 million lived with a same-sex partner.

Unlike divorce, cohabitation offers no economic protection for either party. For married couples, there are precedents, formulas and divorce court, says Debra Neiman, a certified financial planner in Watertown, Mass. “For unmarried folks, there is no such playing field. It’s up to the couple at the onset, or early in the relationship, to set the stage and make preparations for what would happen in the event of dissolution.”

When dreams go awry

Yet starry-eyed young lovers don’t like to think of that possibility. “It’s amazing how many of my friends in their early-to-late 20s go through this,” says Laughead, referring to her breakup. “A lot of us go into a (live-in) relationship with a positive outlook. We think, ‘Oh, nothing bad will happen.’ The girl typically thinks, ‘This is going to be great, we’re (eventually) going to get married.’”

Among Laughead’s friends, the woman is typically the one who moves out. She must find a place to live and buy furniture. “You realize, ‘Oh, my college furniture — I sold that,’” Laughead says. “Or you have a couch and a headboard and no mattress. Those are expenses you don’t think of.”

Her ex-boyfriend incurred expenses, too. “When I moved out, all the kitchenware was mine,” she says. “He came home and didn’t have any kitchen supplies anymore.”

But because her boyfriend paid the bulk of the down payment, the town house was in his name. “We figured when we got married, we’d change it to include me,” she says. He was also the primary account holder on the utilities. After she left and needed her own telephone and utilities, she had no record of good credit.

Call in the big guns for a big purchase

Unmarried couples who want to buy a home should have an attorney draft a property agreement, says Neiman, coauthor, with Sheryl Garrett, of the forthcoming “Money Without Matrimony.” “It could simply say, ‘In the event of a breakup, Party A has the right of first refusal to buy the property from Party B.’ It could be more explicit and say, ‘The purchase price will be based on the average of two or three market appraisals.’”

Some women discover less-obvious economic penalties when cohabitation ends. “They’re not saving as effectively for themselves,” because they see themselves as part of a team, Allen says.

Women also tend to feather the nest more than men, buying curtains, towels and sheets, Theune says. “That’s hard to put a dollar value on.”

Pepper Schwartz, a sociologist and relationship expert for perfectmatch.com, advises couples who are thinking about living together to ask serious questions:

  • What are we doing here?

  • Is this an open-ended situation that may not turn into anything?

  • If we love each other, will we marry?

“Just because you don’t like the answer doesn’t mean you don’t need to know the answer,” she says.

Dogs and credit cards

In the event of a breakup, Schwartz adds, couples must consider another key question: “What do we owe each other under these circumstances — money, furniture, dogs?”

Dogs were part of the negotiations when Stacy Katz’s first live-in relationship ended. She and her boyfriend had two dogs, and they were a big issue in dividing their property. Each took one.

Since then, Katz, of New York, now a manager for a financial-regulatory service, has had two other cohabiting relationships, each lasting about a year. When the first and third ended, she incurred no serious financial losses.

But with her second boyfriend, she learned a hard lesson after she allowed him to use her credit card. “I was the card holder, but he had his name on it, too. When I moved away, he ran it up and didn’t pay it,” she says.

Katz had also co-signed a car loan. After she left, her ex-boyfriend let the insurance run out. He had an accident and couldn’t pay for the repairs. “Creditors were pursuing me for a long time for the credit card and car loan,” she says. That hurt her credit rating.

Set up joint accounts

To protect both parties, Allen says, the safest approach is to have joint accounts, joint assets and run the household on a budget that both people contribute to, perhaps pro rata, based on income. But even a joint tenancy account carries risks: Either party can empty it out. She suggests an account that requires two signatures — an “and” account, not an “or” account.

Very often, couples go into these relationships in a state of “glee mania,” Theune finds. “By the time the bloom is off the rose, they find themselves in this financial, emotional, psychological bind. Getting out of it is legally easier if you’re not married, but the devastation is as harmful.” She finds that many women “didn’t take time to prepare themselves to leave, financially or otherwise.”

One woman she knows relocated to a new city with her boyfriend after they became engaged. When they broke up, she had to move back and find another job. But they did work out a financial settlement to cover what she would need for one year to get re-established.

Higher stakes at midlife

Among younger couples, cohabitation can often involve a lighthearted commitment with lighthearted exits, Garrett says. But as the practice becomes more common among middle-aged couples who may be altar-shy after a divorce, the stakes are higher. “When they were 22, they split up the lawn furniture they were using in the living room. When they’re 40 or 50, they often have significant assets and liabilities.”

If a couple can’t work out the financial aspects of a breakup in a civil manner, Schwartz suggests getting a third-party mediator to help. “If you end up in court, it’ll be just awful,” she warns. “You might need somebody to talk to, to see if you are due any economic recompense for the relationship. But in general, you signed up for something that wasn’t marriage.”

Laughead offers her own cautionary note to unmarried couples. “If you’re paying toward something, you need to make sure your name is on it somewhere. If the worst-case scenario happens, you want to protect all your assets.”

Garrett takes a similarly pragmatic approach. “You need to think of unmarried couples more like business partners,” she says. “If you own anything together, or owe anything together, this is your business partner. It’s definitely not romantic, but it’s very healthy and a smart way to protect yourself and your loved ones.”

What is happening to the FDIC?

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

August 2009, Is the FDIC Broke!

It depends upon who you ask;  some say everything if OK and there is nothing to worry about!   But the facts seem to indicate a different story; read on….    Many people have not even hear the news…

This event alone could have a much greater impact on their lives than

all recent catastrophes…

Note: If the $641US million was all that remained of the DIF

{Deposit Insurance Fund} the FDIC is now broke!

Since  It has been spent in the last year,

Ya, it  looks like it’s all gone folks…

Even starting with US$53 Billion in 2008 –

going through the 77 bank failures this year alone –

the DIF has dwindled to zero.

your first reaction should be a mixture of shock and dismay.

How could the FDIC go bankrupt

after the first wave of bank failures?

Here’s how, in good times the FDIC had one job.

Just have banks pay for comparatively small

insurance payments.

Yet for most of 1995 till 2006,

they collected next to nothing.

Apparently they had no authority to force banks

to pay their premiums,

so they simply did not collect any…

Then, just as soon as the crisis broke in American banks,

Congress had the FDIC more than doubled its liabilities…

taking their maximum coverage from US$100,000 per

account to US$250,000.  Just to keep the people happy!

Was there a corresponding crackdown on premiums due?

Did they start charging banks twice as much for the insurance,

or at least collect the missing premiums from the past decade?

Noooo Of course not; that would be too easy.

Instead, they were comfortable with what dwindled to a .014%

coverage on their assets. That is to say that for every

dollar the FDIC covered,

they had 1.4 cents in reserve to insure that dollar.

Now even that is gone…   HUH!!

let’s look at the offshore banks have clean balance sheets

along withsome coherent managment regulations…

Plus a track record that makes

American banks look like small potatoe lenders…

Next the Swiss only liquidated one bank.

While in America  with have a relatively

unstable financial system

which is practically insolvent,  has only kept alive only by

emergency government loans.

All of which is based on the future earnings of

the taxpayers of the USA…

It’s quite clear that if the U.S. government

wasn’t waging a smear campaign

against competing financial centers,

they’d probably have much bigger problems

on their hands than FDIC insolvency. Until someone takes notice…

Most politicians will probably argue that the FDIC’s

bankruptcy doesn’t matter so much.

Because the true purpose of the FDIC isn’t bailing out banks;

only making the depositors happy…

Going back to the “Roaring ’20’s,” for proof;

before the introduction of the FDIC.

An average of 500 banks failed every year during the 1930’s,

with most due to panicked runs by depositors.

Most Politicians will most likely attempt to defuse concern

over the FDIC’s sudden bankruptcy.

That the FDIC has US$100 Billion in back-up funding already

approved by Congress. That they can tap into those funds,

so there’s no need for mainstream Americans to

worry about their bank’s solvency.

It has been concluded that the United States’

total wealth was somewhere over

fifty trillion dollars.

Just maybe the U.S. can spend away our problems.

But one day we must pay for this inflation…

because even while the endless government money

machine printing out even more money…

We are going deeper into debt by the minute…

Go on line, and research the National Debt, try  ntu.org…

Just remember the FDIC’s real purpose is to be a psychological

“security blanket” for the citizens.

Remember you can’t go on spending borrowed money forever.

All debts are paid by someone, most likely your grandchildren…

Check out this story yourself…

Time as we live it!

Friday, August 14th, 2009

“Time is! Yet it’s use depends upon the individual (you) to determine the outcome!”

a True-ism

The truth exist because it is!  Like it or not!  The truth is because either someone did on did not do something at some time (point) in their life (existence)…  So what exactly is this misconception of time and how does it effect you?

How can you understand time?  Most of us are familiar with Chronos time; which is the regular passage as in hours, days, weeks, years and centuries…  This is the so called normal earth time, we see day to day and that which is recorded in history…  The other event or passage is:

Kairos (καιρός) is an ancient Greek word meaning the right or opportune moment (the supreme moment). The ancient Greeks had two words for time, chronos and kairos. While the former refers to chronological or sequential time, the latter signifies a time in between, a moment of undetermined period of time in which something special happens. What the special something is depends on who is using the word. While chronos is quantitative, kairos has a qualitative nature.[1]

So now you can start to understand the kairos or “Significant Happening”  or an opportune moment…  This is where you must come to realize the magic of the moment so to speak, it is where most spiritual occurrence happen…   It is during a kairos event, that you must act…  It is a choice and requies you to make a decision to either interact or ignore the kairos event…

Considering the rhythms of the Chronology time line, we should become ready to expect the any kairos moment or event when it occurs…   While we only tend to see the regular time, it is beat to understand that God does not exist on normal time!  Kairos is God’s time!

Chronology on earth is a set of general occurrences, many on some type of regular patterns…  While the whole of eternal time is on a  Kairos or special as needed type occurrence…  It is the inter blending or simultaneous occurrences that effect our life and where we must learn to recognize and take the appropriate action(s) or not for this to become effect in our life!

This is where truth meets the wall of reality…  Based upon decisions made by those whom the truth effects…   This is an evolving principle which we will explore and develop as Chronological time goes on…

Stop back as we post more truth here…

Your Philosophy

Philosophy 101
Posted: August 7th, 2009, by kerminator

Your philosophy is simply you way of thinking! Whether you realize it or not, the direction you are going in your day to day life, has been influenced then controlled by your personal philosophy; which is your dominate way of thinking!

” As a person thinks in their heart, so it is with their soul!” a True-ism
Each person tends to view their life through a filter. The optimist sees only opportunity in almost every situation they meet in life; while the pessimist tends to see only defeat and gloom every where! Both could be facing the exact same conditions, yet each will see or filter things so as to respond differently! This way or method of filtering, can be called their philosophy of life!

Beware of any person who comes with vain deceit and tends to mislead you through an evil based philosophy; set upon the traditions of men after the rudiments of this world!! This is the guidance given everyone who seeks to live a righteous life… This happens with both the philosophies of the world and the false religious teachings of man…

Why do people believe the commandments (law) of men more than the true Word of God?

When following the laws or principles of man, you are operating by a philosophy, but the wrong one! Many people have bits and pieces of God’s word on their mind, yet have not meditated enough to change their core beliefs! Therefore when the winds of life blow adversely in their lives they may spout a few gospel scriptures, but continue to act within their human values which it what comes from their heart!

Therefore if you have a negative philosophy or way of thinking, this will be what is manifested in your life! HUH! This means that if you see yourself as sick, or poor, or alone, or a general failure; it will become a self fulfilling prophecy of gloom and doom! This is exactly where many people find themselves today; listening to the Mass Media (News) groups and many politicians…

If you see yourself as relativity healthy, living a balanced successful life; this will prove to be the condition of your existence! That is why you need to have your philosophy based upon the True Word of God! This is what will bless your life and allow you to advance toward the Kingdom of Heaven!

It is through subtle deception of human philosophy that Satan or evil tries to deceive you! This tactic is where evil gets you to change your way of thinking by questioning your core beliefs and trust in the Word of God! Even people who have some been exposed to some of the Holy Scripture; do not really have their belief system firmly in place… They have been influenced more by the culture of the world, movies, entertainment, their upbringing, and or opinions of others; rather than the True Word of God!

Maybe your parents or others have told you that you are worthless, or your previous spouse called you a loser… It could be some minister or other authority figure in your life said you were cursed because of some behavior so you believed it and have lived it! Whatever your belief or philosophy in life, when you have been spoiled and lead to believe false things this causes grief in your life!

” Your life is more than personal wants and wishes, it is your personal desire to be united with Almighty God!” a True-ism

Where do you find yourself today? Lost and wondering from thing to thing, looking for Love in all the wrong places? If this is your case, then you need to change your basic philosophy, in other words change the way you think… Start with prayer, then study and meditate on the Word of God to change your core beliefs… Do not limit God by your small limited thinking allow His Words to fill your life and adjust your philosophy to change your mind for the better life God has planned for you…

This is where you just have to decide to reach out and grasp it the righteous philosophy of life!

Think about this one!

WHO AM I?
I was born in one country, raised in another. My father was born in
another country. I was not his only child. He fathered several children
with numerous women.
I became very close to my mother, as my father showed no interest in me.
My mother died at an early age from cancer. Later in life, Questions arose
over my real name.
My birth records were sketchy and no one was able to produce a
legitimate, reliable birth certificate.

I grew up practicing one faith but converted to Christianity, as it was
widely accepted in my country, but I practiced non-traditional beliefs &
didn’t follow Christianity, except in the public eye under scrutiny.

I worked and lived among lower-class people as a young adult, disguising
myself as someone who really cared about them.

That was before I decided it was time to get serious about my life and I
embarked on a new career.
I wrote a book about my struggles growing up. It was clear to those who
read my memoirs that I had difficulties accepting that my father abandoned
me as a child.

I became active in local politics in my 30′s then with help behind the
scenes, I literally burst onto the scene as a candidate for national
office in my 40s. They said I had a golden tongue and could talk anyone
into anything. That reinforced my conceit.
I had a virtually non-existent resume, little work history, and no
experience in leading a single organization. Yet I was a powerful
speaker and citizens were drawn to me as though I were a magnet and they
were small roofing tacks
I drew incredibly large crowds during my public appearances. This bolstered
my ego.
At first, my political campaign focused on my country’s foreign
policy…… I was very critical of my country in the last war and seized
every opportunity to bash my country.

But what launched my rise to national prominence were my views on the
country’s economy. I pretended to have a really good plan on how we could do
better and every poor person would be fed & housed for free.

I knew which group was responsible for getting us into this mess. It was
the free market, banks & corporations. I decided to start making citizens
hate them and if they were envious of others who did well, the plan was
clinched tight.

I called mine “A People’s campaign” and that sounded good to all people.
I was the surprise candidate because I emerged from outside the traditional
path of politics & was able to gain widespread popular support.

I knew that, if I merely offered the people ‘hope’ , together we could
change our country and the world.

So, I started to make my speeches sound like they were on behalf of the
downtrodden, poor, ignorant to include “persecuted minorities” like the
Jews. My true views were not widely known & I needed to keep them unknown,
until after I became my nation’s leader.

I had to carefully guard reality, as anybody could have easily found out
what I really believed, if they had simply read my writings and examined
those people I associated with.
I’m glad they didn’t. Then I became the most powerful man in the world.
And the world learned the truth.

Who am I?

WHO WERE YOU THINKING OF?    Maybe BHO?
Scary isn’t it?
